Nijeria Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Board Registered Supervisor based in Virginia, with more than eight years of dedicated experience across mental health, sexology, trauma, and advocacy. She holds advanced degrees in counseling, sexuality research, and liberal studies, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Human Sexuality with a research focus on plus-sized Black women’s sexuality. Nijeria leads Sexhale Services LLC, serving as an outpatient clinician and life coach, and is founder of The DESIRE+ Collective, an organization advancing sexual empowerment, body positivity, and justice for (plus-sized) Black women.
In her career, Nijeria has supervised clinical teams, worked in crisis intervention, provided intensive treatment for chronic mental illness, and designed trauma-sensitive approaches for diverse populations across outpatient, emergency, and community settings. She is certified as a Somatic Sex Therapist, Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, Diplomate of Sexology, and holds credentials in relationship and intimacy coaching, sound healing, and reiki.
A respected presenter, educator, and author, Nijeria has led academic panels and workshops on intersectionality, Black women’s experiences, and the reclamation of desire. Her published work explores self-understanding, cultural definitions of beauty, and intersectionality. She serves as President of Gamma Eta Rho National Honor Society and is actively involved in professional leadership and research initiatives.
Nijeria Jones earned her Human Rights Consultant certification from the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights (USIDHR), based in Washington, DC. This internationally recognized program provides in-depth training in the principles, legal frameworks, and practical application of human rights advocacy, policy analysis, and strategic consulting. The curriculum covers the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, equity standards, advocacy techniques, and methods for supporting organizations to align with global human rights obligations. As a Certified Human Rights Consultant, Nijeria is qualified to educate, advise, and collaborate with nonprofits, legal teams, and community organizations to develop policies, deliver trainings, and lead initiatives that advance social justice, dignity, and equity in diverse U.S. and global contexts. Her credential reflects a commitment to evidence-based advocacy, cultural sensitivity, and rights-based systems change.
Nijeria’s expertise in immigration psychological evaluations was advanced through specialized training with Georgia King, LCSW. This program, “Mastering Immigration Evaluations,” is approved by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for continuing education and meets rigorous standards for clinical documentation, assessment, and advocacy in support of humanitarian immigration cases such as asylum, VAWA, U and T visas, and extreme hardship waivers. The training emphasizes trauma-informed practices, legal criteria for court-ready reports, and collaboration with attorneys to effectively document the psychological impact of persecution, violence, and displacement. Nijeria’s ability to provide comprehensive, culturally attuned immigration evaluations empowers attorneys and their clients to present compelling evidence to immigration courts, supporting safety, protection, and family reunification goals.
